Porsche ends Macan combustion production in summer 2026

Porsche has confirmed it will permanently end production of the internal combustion engine (ICE) Macan at its Leipzig factory in the summer of 2026. The move signals a clear strategic commitment to electrification, as the German luxury brand accelerates its shift away from petrol-powered vehicles.

Despite the production halt, customers in certain markets could still take delivery of a combustion Macan as late as 2027, depending on dealer inventory levels. This transition period is typical for premium manufacturers winding down a successful model line while ramping up its electric successor.

The fully electric Macan is already available globally and has been well received in key EV markets across Europe and beyond. With the ICE version being phased out, Porsche joins a growing list of premium automakers — including rivals like BMW and Mercedes — that are progressively electrifying their SUV lineups.

For international buyers, the end of ICE Macan production may translate into discounted prices on remaining new and near-new stock over the coming months. Meanwhile, the electric Macan positions Porsche firmly in the competitive luxury electric SUV segment, where it competes with models such as the Audi Q6 e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace.
